Groups & Clubs
When it’s time to play, there is something for everyone at Glassy! Sporting adventures abound—golf, hiking, cycling, athletic training, pickleball, tennis, and more. Resident-initiated clubs offer a variety of interests such as dining, nature, food and wine, garden, book, bridge, mahjong, chorale groups, card games, cigars, scotch and bourbon, and so much more. Glassy residents gather weekly atop the mountain at the Sunset Pavilion or enjoy the Friday Night Mixer at the Clubhouse, often with live music. Monthly music concerts feature top local talent. Enriching lifestyle opportunities are endless at Glassy but as we like to say here: “Come for the views…Stay for the people!”
Wellness
Wellness is an important way of life on Glassy Mountain. It begins with our state-of-the-art Wellness Center, available to Cliffs Club members, complete with an outdoor Olympic size pool, top-notch fitness equipment, tennis and pickleball courts. It extends to our hiking trails including miles of walkable mountain roads and the scenic Tom Jackson-designed mountain golf course. Club members can enjoy an unparalleled wellness experience with the help of The Cliffs staff of personal trainers, performance coaches, tennis pros, yoga and pilates instructors, and backpacking specialists. Wellness also extends off the mountain including cycling with George Hincapie, Tour de France legend and The Cliffs’ Director of Cycling.
Security, Safety and Healthcare
Safety and security are of prime importance in the Glassy community. Our security gatehouse is staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Glassy is the only Cliffs community with full-time EMT staff onsite to cover medical emergencies at any time of the day or night. The Glassy Mountain Fire Station is less than five minutes from the front gate plus additional equipment is stationed on top of the mountain.
The Greenville-Spartanburg area is currently served by two major healthcare systems. The Prisma Health system is widely recognized as the state’s most comprehensive healthcare provider. The Bon Secours St. Francis Health System scores some of the highest patient satisfaction ratings in the nation. Both systems have cancer treatment centers. Greenville is also home to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Kids Camp
Making happy memories that bring children back to the mountain again and again, Kids Camp is a private theme-oriented summer camp run by Glassy residents. Its purpose is to offer a safe, healthy, educational, and fun-filled social learning experience for kids ranging in ages from 5 to 13 with special programs for teens.
Volunteer Opportunities—Glassy Giving
Glassy residents volunteer countless hours and share their talents with a multitude of organizations. A small sample includes local children’s and animal charities, arts and cultural organizations, the Glassy Mountain Fire Department, Habitat for Humanity, hospital foundations and other local groups. In addition, Glassy is proud to participate in The Cliffs Resident Outreach (CRO) program dedicated to enabling children in the Upstate South Carolina school system to succeed by focusing on literacy, nutrition and mentoring.
Continuing Education
The location of our Glassy community is a perfect match for residents who wish to continue their intellectual development or pursue their interests. We are centrally located between five institutions of higher education—Clemson University, Furman University, Greenville Technical College, University of North Carolina Asheville, and Wofford College. These institutions offer lectures and continuing professional development in addition to college courses. Each of these five institutions also has special programs tailored for seniors.
